Building Management
Open Door has a number of ministries within the larger context of all of us doing ministry. Some ministries are undertaken within the context of designated teams. Others happen within the larger context of the church and ministry. Open Door presently has five Standing Teams, each headed by a Team Leader (or Co-Leaders) who are Deacons.
Our Standing Teams Building Management· Keeps eye on immediate building maintenance needs · Makes sure our worship, social and work space is safe for all ages · Markets and negotiates ways other groups or individuals can use the building. · Act as consultants with Building Futures to look at possible options for purchase.
· Helps develop social life of the church through fellowships, after-church lunches, other large and small-group occasions or outings. · Liaises with other ministry groups or Pastor about special events where a social time is connected.
· Justice ministry looks at, and participates in the consciousness-raising of the congregation and community through various areas of social action. · Justice ministry team members also represent the church on various justice-based organizations in the wider community.
· Ensures that there is a stocked pantry of canned and dry goods to be used for individual and family needs both in and out of the congregation. · Manages a regular recycling of pantry goods to ensure up-to-date goods for consumption. · On a monthly basis, provides excess goods to an organization that provides meals and foodstuffs. · Undertakes preparation and distribution of edible goods on special occasions such as Easter and Christmas.
Capital Campaign Committee – under oversight of the Church Board. Focuses on major fundraising projects to build our new ministry center. Children’s Ministry Group – part of church ministry focused on our younger church people and babies to provide wholesome leadership and competent care and Christian development. Prayer Ministry Group– prays weekly for any prayer requests Worship Planning Group – gathers regularly with Pastoral Staff to pray about and plan Sunday worship themes and services. Creative Arts
Ministry – works informally to
add to the visual experiences of worship through banners, flags, designs and
other art forms. |
